<p><strong>Pantherna Therapeutics announces grant of Key European Patent for its advanced mRNA expression technology.</strong><br />
Hennigsdorf, December 27, 2023</p>
<p>Pantherna Therapeutics, a privately held biotechnology company developing first-in-class therapeutics based on its proprietary mRNA-LNP technologies, today announced that European patent EP3833786B has been issued by the European Patent Office (EPO), securing an innovative, universally applicable mRNA expression cassette for enhanced translation of proteins aiming at restoring cellular function in the context of mRNA therapies.<br />
“The decision of the EPO marks an important step for Pantherna in building a comprehensive patent portfolio to protect its mRNA-based platform technology and drug candidates”, said Dr. Klaus Giese, CEO of Pantherna Therapeutics.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">The preclinical data demonstrate that tumor neoantigens identified by Evaxion’s AI platform, PIONEER, drive a strong immune response and lead to complete inhibition of tumor growth in a preclinical model when delivered using Pantherna’s proprietary lipid nanoparticle mRNA platform (PTXΔLNP®, PTXmRNA®).</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>TOKYO</strong><strong> and Hennigsdorf, Germany, October 4</strong><strong>, </strong><strong>2022</strong> &#8211; Astellas Pharma Inc. (TSE:4503, President and CEO: Kenji Yasukawa, Ph.D., “Astellas”) and Pantherna Therapeutics GmbH (CEO:Klaus Giese, Ph.D., “Pantherna”) today announced that the companies have entered into a new technology evaluation agreement for research to generate mRNA-based regenerative medicine programs using direct reprogramming (transdifferentiation)*.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">This agreement expands the scope of the technology evaluation agreement for research, which <a href="https://www.astellas.com/en/system/files/news/2021-11/20211115_en_1.pdf">Astellas and Pantherna entered into in 2021</a>, to include new target organ.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Pantherna owns a proprietary platform of state-of-the-art, unique mRNA molecules (PTXmRNAs) for enhancing the efficiency of mRNA actions in the body. Under the new agreement, Pantherna’s mRNA platform and Astellas’ world-class drug discovery capabilities will be combined to promote research on the generation of regenerative medicine programs for new target organ using a direct reprogramming approach. Astellas will be responsible for providing drug discovery ideas, preparing candidate compounds for technology evaluation, and performing research aimed at developing this therapeutic modality, while Pantherna will be responsible for  providing technical information and development support.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">Pantherna, a privately-held German biotech company, developing new mRNA therapies, today announced a research collaboration with Charité &#8211; Universitätsmedizin Berlin, exploring the potential of mRNA therapies in treating autoimmune diseases. Together with clinician scientists from the Charité Department of Clinical Neuroimmunology Pantherna aims to investigate the potential of its PTX-mRNA and PTX-LNP technologies as a therapeutic means to fight autoimmune diseases.  Neurological conditions such as Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) are caused by auto-antibodies attacking endogenous proteins and consequently destroying essential cells such as astrocytes or oligodendrocytes. Despite immunosuppressive amelioration of the symptoms no specific treatment exists for this rare debilitating chronic disease. Prof. Friedemann Paul and Dr. Maria Hastermann and their team at Charité unravel the pathological basis for autoimmunity in NMOSD and strive to find novel therapeutic modalities. Both parties agreed on the conduct of preclinical studies, addressing the suitability of novel LNP-compositions to control tolerogenic immune responses.</p>
